Job Description

Position Summary

The Theatre Arts program at Allan Hancock College, Santa Maria is seeking applications to develop a qualified pool of part-time faculty for possible vacancies. Positions are available as determined by need during the Fall and/or Spring semesters of the 2024-2025 and 2025-2026 academic years.

Responsibilities and duties may include teaching one or more subjects in the Theatre arts program: Introduction to Theatre; Acting 1; Acting 2; Theatre History; Stagecraft; Stage Makeup. Successful candidates will be able to provide evidence of a sensitivity to, understanding of, and the ability to manage the classroom environment AND effectively provide instruction to community college students of diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds.

Essential Functions and Qualifications

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES
· Provide instruction in accordance with established curriculum and course outlines.
· Maintain appropriate standards of professional conduct and ethics.
· Maintain current knowledge in the subject matter areas.
· Fulfill professional responsibilities of a part-time/temporary faculty member.
· Teach all scheduled classes.
· Maintain accurate records.
· Assignments may include day, evening, weekend, on-line and/or off-campus classes.

Minimum Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications: The successful candidate must meet one of the following criteria:
1. For: Introduction to Theatre; Acting 1; Acting 2; Theatre History; a master's degree from an accredited college or university.
2. For: Stagecraft and Stage Makeup a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university AND two (2) years of experience, or, an associates degree AND six (6) years industry experience.
3. Possess a combination of education and experience that is at least the equivalent to the above. Candidates making anapplication on the basis of equivalency must submit an application for equivalency in addition to all other requiredmaterials. Prior teaching experience desired.

Lecture Rate: $65.74 to $86.44 per hour depending upon education and experience
