Hiring Salary/Salary Range: $55,000 - $65,000 annually

Job Summary:

Post-doctoral position is available in the Dr. Wanling Xuan lab (PI) in the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences. Dr. Xuan’s research, supported by NIH funding and USF, is focused on tissue engineering and regenerative medicine. The research lab is currently concentrating on muscle and cardiovascular diseases. The emphasis is on stem cells, regeneration, and repair in age related diseases using transgenic mice, human-induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs), and organoids derived from patient-specific iPSCs. The research laboratory employs molecular biology, cellular biology, advanced stem cell techniques, translation tools, and animal models for its research. The research associated with this position will primarily focus on studying cardiac dysfunction in aging.

DUTIES:

  • Highly self-motivated and enthusiastic candidates.
  • Abilities to vigorously pursue scientific projects (design and perform experiments) and complete the goals of the project.
  • Knowledgeable about animal surgery, stem cell culture, mouse models, and molecular biology.
  • Collect and analyze data accurately without bias and use statistics for analysis, and test hypothesis.
  • Analysis and interpretation of the findings.
  • Maintain records, communicate efficiently with the PI.
  • Attends weekly meetings, routine research lab meetings and presents data.
  • Research productivity.

 

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum:

  • Doctoral degree from an accredited institution and appropriate experience and training within a selected area of specialization. Must meet university criteria for appointment to the rank of Postdoctoral Fellow.

Preferred:

  • Molecular biology experiences in the field of transcriptional regulation of gene expression, epigenetics, and gene editing.
  • Cell biology with expertise in quantitative imaging such as fluorescence time-lapse microscope and image analysis.
  • Experience in stem cell research is plus but not required.
  • M.D or Ph.D. or equivalent in medicine, molecular biology, genetics, muscle biology, cardiology, or related scientific fields. (Should be less than 5 years after receiving the terminal degree).
