We are seeking a dedicated test engineer eager to evaluate sophisticated embedded software and distributed processing systems. The Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Laboratory (JHUAPL) Space Exploration Sector develops spacecraft for both National Security applications and NASA funded exploration missions. Our group is a collaborative team of software developers, applied mathematicians/physicists and embedded system engineers that develop flight software and simulations for JHUAPL-developed spacecraft. Our test engineers work closely with systems, software, hardware, and other engineering teams to ensure that we have rock-solid, continuously tested software stacks capable of commanding and relaying data across the solar system. We push the boundaries of the possible, stay up to date with software practices, and constantly infuse our knowledge into our spacecraft and the systems that support them.
As a test engineer, your responsibilities include:
- Evaluating published acceptance test plans, working with software developers to understand the functions and configurations of software systems
- Using real-time testbeds to craft, automate, and evaluate tests.
- Collaborating with technical leads to determine strategies for scenario, stress, and requirements-based testing.
- Working with hardware and firmware developers to evaluate the function of the custom hardware/firmware vital for testing and evaluating software systems.
Qualifications
You meet our minimum qualifications for the job if you have...
- A Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Electrical or Computer Engineering, or equivalent experience.
- 5+ years of test and evaluation experience with embedded software systems.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills, initiative, and follow-through.
- An ability to acquire Secret level security clearance. If selected, you will be subject to a government secret clearance investigation and must meet the requirements for access to classified information. Eligibility requirements include U.S. citizenship.
- Can demonstrate that you are fully vaccinated against COVID-19. You 'll go above and beyond our minimum requirements if you have...
- A MS or PhD in Computer Engineering, Computer Science or equivalent.
- Familiarity with real-time Linux, FPGA development, simulation, real-time software development, multi-core processors, and publish-subscribe data busses.
- Experience with software development lifecycles.
- Familiarity with the C and C++ programming languages, scripting languages, and firmware specification languages. Familiarity with Matlab, Simulink, and RealTime Workshop.
- An Active Top Secret/SCI clearance.
