The Position
The Vice President for Academic Affairs (VPAA) serves as the chief academic officer, reports to the President, and is a member of the President’s Executive Team. This position oversees the college’s instructional, instructional support, workforce, developmental education, and technology programs. In addition, the VPAA oversees a $60 million budget and more than 40 administrative and academic areas, leading work in student development and success in collaboration with the Academic Leadership Team.
The VPAA ensures that the college is focused on providing quality instruction and promoting student achievement. In addition, provides the leadership necessary to move the college, faculty, and staff forward in the implementation of policies and practices that promote and achieve the college’s core themes.
In direct support of the college mission, vision, and values, the VPAA is responsible for supporting an inclusive and safe campus community and culture for all employees and students.

Salary/Compensation Statement:

Lane Community College is considered a qualifying public employer for the purposes of the Public Service Loan Forgiveness Program. Through the Public Service Loan Forgiveness program, full-time employees working at the College may qualify for forgiveness of the remaining balance on Direct Loans after 120 qualifying monthly payments under a qualifying repayment plan. Questions regarding your loan eligibility should be directed to your loan servicer or to the US Department of Education.

Required QUALIFICATIONS
Required Education:
Earned Doctorate from a regionally accredited institution.
Required Experience:
Five (5) years of progressively responsible administrative, management, and leadership experience in higher education
Instructional and career technical experience
Experience with regional regulatory bodies
Experience in curriculum and assessment
Teaching experience in higher education
Record of successful collaboration with bargaining units, faculty, staff, and/or student constituent groups
Experience in budget planning and sustainable fiscal management
Experience leading to student achievement, persistence, and retention

Position Purpose:
The Vice President of Academic Affairs, working with the President and the President’s Cabinet, works to achieve the vision and mission for academic affairs in the college while providing leadership and management for the divisions and departments they oversee.
Essential Functions:
Responsible oversight for the following areas: Academic Affairs, Academic Technology, Developmental, Workforce, and Community education
Model, infuse, and support Lane’s values of learning, diversity, innovation, collaboration and partnership, integrity, accessibility, and sustainability at all levels of work within the college
Provide strategic, dynamic academic and administrative leadership, and fosters a collegial environment that encourages scholarship, teaching, and learning excellence
Provide vision as part of engaging in college-wide administration, including the review and development of the college’s core themes, strategic directions, and budgets
Foster a college-wide culture of service to student learning, academic excellence, and success
Collaborate with college employees and students to define, build shared understanding, and implement practices that lead to student learning and success
Support creativity, experimentation, and institutional transformation while providing the overall leadership and management for units and resources listed above in Areas of Primary Accountability
Provide strategic and tactical leadership development of resources, staying current with and anticipating changes in local, state, and national issues Act courageously, deliberately, and systematically in relation to change Maintain compliance with established college policies, procedures, and external regulations
Develop cross-disciplinary structures, systems, policies, practices, and support to improve collaboration and innovation in Lane’s programs and services
Improve communications, services, systems, and structures to maximize access and opportunity for all students
Promote excellence in division personnel through recruitment, selection, and evaluation, as well as acknowledgment and promotion of professional development
Assist in the development of collective bargaining agreements and be responsible for their administration and maintenance
