POSITION DESCRIPTION:

The Naval Architecture & Ocean Engineering Department invites applications for a Post-Doctoral Research position to begin as early as July 2022. USNA is a service academy and top tier engineering and liberal arts university with a demonstrated commitment to excellence in faculty teaching and research. Candidates for the position should be self-motivated and have demonstrated experience in conducting research in experimental fluid mechanics.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate and advise in design and execution of research being executed by Naval Academy faculty and support of institutional research efforts.
  • Provide advice on research content and methodology.

This is a two-year federal excepted service position. Salary for this position will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.

MINIMUM AND PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum:

  • A Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Ocean Engineering or a closely-related discipline is required (completed prior to start date).
  • Demonstrated experience in conducting research in experimental fluid mechanics.

Preferred:

  • Experience with Particle Image Velocimetry (PIV) and/or Laser Doppler Velocimetry (LDV).
  • Experience with Matlab or other structured programming languages.
