Postdoctoral Associate in the Institute of Environment at Florida International University, Water Quality Monitoring Lab

Location: Miami, Florida, USA

A Postdoctoral Associate position is available in the Water Quality Monitoring Laboratory of Dr. Henry Briceno at Florida International University. The primary role of the postdoc will be to help understanding the hydrology and coastal dynamics on the coastal-land interface of South Florida, with emphasis on Biscayne Bay, in response to human interventions and/or climate change (e.g., LUCC, SLR). The postdoc will be expected to gather and analyze modeling data from existing sources and/or fieldwork, organize and format data for model input, run model simulations, perform statistical analysis, and analyze and report results. The postdoc will assist the lead modeling PI. The position is dependent upon annual funding.

This position will be based at the FIU Modesto A. Maidique Campus in Miami, FL, USA. The appointment is for a 1-year term, with potential for renewal based on performance and funding. Applicants should have a Ph D. in Hydrology, Oceanography, Biology, Environmental Science, Engineering, or related field with experience in water quality modeling. Preferred qualifications include nutrient and phytoplankton dynamics, application of numerical models, familiarity with South Florida coastal environments and marine operations, statistical software, GIS, and data QA/QC. Excellent theoretical and statistical skills, and evidence of these in previous work and publications. Applicants must have a demonstrated record of publication in peer-reviewed journals, ability to interface well with multiple collaborators, and preferably experience working on collaborative modeling projects.
