What You Will Do
The Bioscience Division at Los Alamos National Laboratory is seeking postdoctoral candidates interested in the design and improvement of complex cell culture tissue systems to investigate toxicological effects of different exposure types. The successful candidate will join an intradisciplinary team of scientists, postdoctoral researchers, technicians, and students seeking to develop new technologies to address chemical and biological threats to our national security. Specifically, this research will focus on design, build, and refinement of microphysiological systems to characterize the cellular and molecular changes from exposure to metals, radiation, chemicals, pharmaceuticals, or other potential toxicants. LANL is a highly collaborative environment and an ideal candidate will be able to work both independently and as part of multidisciplinary teams to support multiple projects all of which have a National Security application.
What You Need
Minimum Job Requirements:
Excellent writing and communication skills
A strong publication record in peer-reviewed journals
Demonstrated working experience in cell culture
Ability to obtain a DOE Q Clearance which typically requires US Citizenship
Education/Experience : Ph.D. in bioengineering, microfluidics, biomedical sciences, chemical-, mechanical-, or electrical engineering, cell biology or a related STEM field completed within the last five years or will have completed all Ph.D. requirements by commencement of appointment.
Experience working with complex tissue cultures and microphysiological systems
Familiarity applying bioengineering techniques to cell culture methods
Experience with compatibility concerns and materials choice for biological, chemical, and or radiological experiments
Experience with 3D printing, or other additive manufacturing technique
Coding experience for API integration &/or MatLab or Labview experience
Experience with 2D or 3D design software
Location: This position will be physically located in Los Alamos, New Mexico.

for access to classified matter. This position requires a Q clearance which requires US Citizenship except in extremely rare circumstances. Dependent upon position, additional authorization to access nuclear weapons information may be required that may or may not be available to dual citizens depending upon the circumstances.
