There is postdoctoral position available in the Walker Lab at the MSU-DOE Plant Research Laboratory at Michigan State University under a 4-year NSF Award. This postdoc is part of ongoing efforts to optimize the response of plants to elevated temperature by characterizing and modeling the fundamental biochemistry of processes important for photosynthesis using the principles of synthetic and systems biology. The ideal candidate needs strong experience cloning, expressing, purifying and characterizing recombinant proteins using molecular and biochemical approaches. Experience with biochemical modeling at any level would be helpful, but is not required. Experience with plants is not necessary and this would be a great project for a molecular biologist wanting to expand into plant science, or for a plant scientist with relevant skills to deepen their understanding of photorespiration and photosynthesis. The Walker lab provides a positive environment and is a fantastic place to build a career…our goal is to help you land the job of your dreams.
The MSU-DOE Plant Research Laboratory at Michigan State University has many shared resources for postdocs to develop into leading academic and industry scientists including weekly seminar series with a focus on project and career development and a postdoc group with monthly meetings.
