Job Summary
A postdoctoral position will be available starting August 1st, 2021 with Dr. Brian Evavold in the Division of Microbiology and Immunology at the University of Utah, School of Medicine. 
The successful postdoctoral fellow will contribute to projects understanding T cell antigen recognition in autoimmune diseases particularly type I diabetes. Our laboratory uses state of the art immunological approaches as well as single cell/single molecule biophysical techniques to investigate T cell antigen recognition in viral infection, autoimmunity, and cancer. 
The successful fellow will be involved in the development of experimental design, data collection, and analysis in mouse models and mouse handling is required. The project will involve collaboration with colleagues at University of Utah as well as those at other Universities. The postdoc will be expected to work with all collaborators and to supervise undergraduate students assisting with the research. 
1. Perform laboratory experiments in small animal models of type I diabetes. 
2. Performs laboratory research as directed by the supervisor and manage experiments on primary human cell cultures, cell lines and tissues to support mechanistic studies and validation 
of novel therapeutic. 
3. Analyze data, maintains a detailed research record and draws conclusions regarding presented material and nature of work. 
4. Maintains familiarity with scientific literature and applies knowledge to research projects. 
5. Contributes to general laboratory maintenance. Orders supplies and materials needed for research. 
6. Maintains the physical environment of the lab and a safe research environment. 
7. Assist in the training and mentoring of other laboratory personnel such as graduate students and technicians. 
8. Attends laboratory meetings, present data, and participates in discussions. 
9. Coauthors research publications and presents research at conferences.
Minimum Qualifications
The ideal candidate should have strong communication skills (both verbal and written) and interpersonal, skills to communicate objectives and results.
