JOB DESCRIPTION
 
DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF THE CLASS:
The work involves planning and coordinating the resources of the College and Community to meet identified continuing and community education needs of Erie County residents through seminars, workshops, consultations, and trainings. The incumbent is under the supervision of the Dean of Continuing Education. Does related work as required.
 
TYPICAL WORK ACTIVITIES:
  • Sets up goals and objectives annually to be accomplished by the Workforce Development department;
  • Coordinates all activities related to non-credit, community and continuing education workshops and trainings;
  • Supports and guides campus satellite personnel at each campus location;
  • Prepares, schedules, and coordinates advertising and news releases with the Marketing Department
  • Surveys appropriate Community Education needs and develops training, ensuring training meets the diverse needs of the community;
  • Develops and maintains the preparation of appropriate college budget for department;
  • Develops employment opportunities through new trainings;
  • Prepares a wide variety of records and reports as needed;
  • Speaks to Chambers of Commerce and various groups in the region about goals and objectives of SUNY Erie Community College’s Workforce Development department;
  • Seeks to achieve annual FTE Non-Credit goals;
  • Uses modern software and technology for scheduling, reporting, budgeting and related duties;
  • Does related work as required by the Dean.
 
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
 
Candidates must be able to demonstrate awareness and sensitivity towards promoting an inclusive and diverse learning environment Thorough knowledge of the techniques and procedures necessary to effectively present and coordinate seminars, modules and consultation to community; through knowledge
of community college functions; ability to motivate and work effectively with others; ability to set goals and objectives for Community Education Resource Center and its satellite personnel; good judgment; initiative; physically capable of performing the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable
accommodation.
 
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
 
Graduation from a regionally accredited registered college or university with a Bachelor's degree and three (3) years’ experience in educational or vocational training, or business management experience, which included employee seminars, training or related duties.
 
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
 
Official transcripts will be required for successful candidates within 30 days of hire.
