Duke University’s Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology has an immediate opening for a Postdoctoral Associate.

Work Performed:

  • Perform data management, statistical analysis and data interpretation of electronic medical record-derived data from a large health system to identify targets for improving racial/ethnic, socioeconomic, and geographic equity in gynecologic health and well-being
  • Initiate ancillary analyses using data from PI’s R01 research on gynecologic health care equity.  Draft and revise scientific publications as first author and co-author on the following topics: gynecologic epidemiology and health care equity, as well as other aspects of health care research at the intersection of social determinants of health, ethnoracial equity, and chronic health and health care
  • Supervise predoctoral, doctoral, and other research assistants in data management and analysis as well as writing and submitting for presentations and publication related to PI’s research on equity in gynecologic health care. 
  • Submit grant proposals, including production of preliminary data, to support independent research involving racial/ethnic health equity in US among young and middle-aged adults, with a focus on gynecologic, reproductive, or other chronic health conditions
  • Monitor progress of analysis and publication pipeline using shared tools, such as cloud-based Gantt chart and initiate processes with PI and other team members to keep publications on track with timelines
  • Participate in and meaningfully contribute to meetings with stakeholders regarding ongoing projects. 

Minimum Qualifications

Min Degree Requirements:  Ph.D. or equivalent doctorate (e.g. Sc.D., M.D., D.V.M.).  Should be used for post-doctoral fellows if the candidate has completed all of the requirements for a degree, but the degree has not been formally conferred; the candidate may present evidence of completion of the degree requirements, together with a statement documenting the date on which the degree is to be conferred.

Other Credential/Experiential Requirements:  The incumbent must be a true post-doctoral fellow registered with the Post Doc Office and per the following requirements:

  • The term of this appointment is limited (5 years with a possible extension for an additional year)

  • The appointment involves substantially full-time research or scholarship, which may include teaching responsibilities.

  • The appointment is viewed as preparatory for a full time academic or research career.

  • The appointment is not part of a clinical research training program, unless research training under the supervision of a senior mentor is a primary purpose of the appointment.

  • The appointee works under the supervision of a scholar or a department at Duke University.

  • The appointee has the freedom, and is expected to publish the results of his or her research or scholarship during the period of the appointment.
