Postdoctoral Researcher in Cardiovascular Disease Mechanisms

A postdoctoral research position is available immediately in Dr. Prasanna Krishnamurthy's laboratory (https://www.prasannalab.com/research) within the Department of Biomedical Engineering at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB), Birmingham, USA. The selected applicant will investigate the molecular mechanisms by which clinical conditions, such as brain disorders and infectious diseases, influence the progression of cardiovascular disease. The lab uses a variety of techniques, including non-invasive echocardiographic assessment of cardiac function, genetically modified transgenic and knockout mouse models, preclinical heart failure models, behavioral studies, cell culture, and various molecular biology methods. 

Qualifications:

  • A Ph.D. in biology or a related field with no more than 2-3 years of postdoctoral training.
  • Recent Ph.D. graduates with experience in molecular biology, immunology, and mouse genetics/animal handling are encouraged to apply.
  • The applicant should be independent, self-motivated, well-organized, and have excellent verbal and written communication skills. The ability to collaborate effectively within a research team is essential.
  • The candidate must be actively involved in the planning and execution of experiments, data analysis, interpretation, and the preparation of manuscripts and presentations.
  • This is a full-time position with an appointment for 12 months, with annual renewal contingent upon performance. UAB offers a dynamic multidisciplinary research environment with access to state-of-the-art research facilities and world-class core services.
