Job Description

The Postdoctoral Researcher will work on the design and implementation of open-source core and RAN in a full-stack configurable software defined radio based 5G wireless testbed.

Responsibilities:  

  • Program the research network stack at a low level (FPGA coding and above) over software defined radios.  

  • Build and integrate missing elements in the open source research network stack 

  • Build the research network to a usable form.

  • Develop software components necessary to integrate the research network but not manage its usage.

  • Maintain documentation and change control for the environment. 

  • Help coordinate the introduction and use of various hardware and software systems associated with specific research teams.   

  • Coordinate with the RELLIS Administration and TEES Administration 5G research engineers.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Education:

  • Doctoral Degree

Required Experience:

  • No required experience.

Preferred Experience:

  • Experience in conducting experiments and measurements in wireless network systems.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • FPGA-level knowledge and development at L1-L2 layers of the 5G communication stack for integration with mm-wave phased arrays, instantiation on software defined radios, field experiments, and analytics of the resulting data.  

  • Expertise in FPGA programming, software defined radios and design of wireless networking protocols.
