Summary of Position

Realizing UNH’s key strategic priorities of enhancing student success, expanding academic and research excellence and retaining our R1 status requires increasing our PhD production and providing more support for our post-doc populations. This work currently falls on a small number of Graduate School staff and graduate assistants, and maximizing these endeavors requires a full-time position focusing on the following core efforts:

• Inventorying and leveraging the resources currently available for graduate students (with a particular focus on PhDs) and post-docs.
• Providing career and professional training and development for graduate students (again, with a particular focus on PhDs) and post-docs, with the aim of making UNH best in class.
• Work with PhD students and their programs to provide resources and support with the aim of increasing annual PhD production to 100. This requires increasing the overall graduation rate (currently 57.9%) and decreasing the time to degree.
• Assessing Ph.D. student outcomes.

This position requires a doctoral degree with an emphasis in higher education. The person should have a record or present evidence of the ability to define and pursue research on issues associated with graduate education or in a closely related field. The successful applicant will have experienced working with graduate student development activities.
