Introduction

A teaching postdoctoral position is available in the lab of Dr. Nathan Baird at the University of the Sciences in Philadelphia.  Research in the Baird lab encompasses three main areas: RNA-targeted drug discovery, RNA triple helix biochemistry, and chemo-enzymatic methods for fluorescent labeling of RNAs.  Additional research projects focus on structure-function analyses of novel RNA-ligand interactions.

This position entails both teaching and research responsibilities. Teaching opportunities may include a basic biochemistry course or an established course-based undergraduate research experience (CURE) in which students participate in an ongoing Baird lab research project.

Highly motivated candidates who are interested in combining research and teaching are encouraged to apply.  Research experience in biochemistry and/or biophysics is required. Additional skills pertaining to project management and mentoring of undergraduate and graduate students are desirable though not required.

Qualified candidates must have a Ph.D. in biochemistry, biophysics, or chemical biology, preferably with expertise related to RNA.

Extensive opportunities for collaborative and innovative science are a hallmark of the Baird lab. For more information, visit https://sites.google.com/usciences.edu/bairdlab/  or contact Nathan Baird at n.baird@usciences.edu .

The finalist will be required to successfully pass a background check.
