Job Summary

Postdoctoral research fellow in the field of Positron Emission Tomography (PET) radiochemistry to perform research in the areas of radiochemistry methodology, radiopharmaceutical development, and PET imaging. Successful candidates will join a multi-disciplinary team of chemists, physicians, physicists and biologists in the University of Michigan Medical School, investigating new methods of radiolabeling small molecules for the in vivo imaging of human biochemistry. A Ph.D in organic or medicinal chemistry and the ability to perform multi-step organic syntheses and characterize products are a must. Excellent written and communication skills are also essential. Additional experience with artificial intelligence, machine learning, coding, cGMP, HPLC, micro-scale reactions, fluorine chemistry, radiochemistry preclinical PET imaging are considered a plus, but not essential, as extensive training will be provided. Some background in biology, biochemistry or pharmacology would also be beneficial. Responsibilities will include: synthesis of bioactive molecules and radiochemistry precursors; labeling with carbon-11, fluorine-18, gallium-68, copper-64 radionuclides; optimization of reactions, including with machine learning, purification, characterization and formulation of radiotracers for clinical and pre-clinical research collaborations in neurology and oncology.

Required Qualifications*

Experience with radiochemistry, radiopharmaceutical development and/or preclinical PET imaging.

Desired Qualifications*

Experience with machine learning, artificial intelligence, coding, cGMP, HPLC, micro-scale reactions, quality control analyisis, transition metal and/or fluorine chemistry, are considered a plus, but not essential.
