Job Summary

This postdoctoral position involves research on pitch and carbon fiber with an emphasis on rheology.

Essential Functions

  • Conduct experiments to evaluate rheology of industrial samples from project sponsor.
  • Construct and design novel melt-spinning apparatus to generate carbon fiber.
  • Prepare and submit manuscripts to appropriate journals in the field.
  • Prepare technical reports for internal uses as well as for submission to funding agency.
  • Help manage and advise graduate and undergraduate students.
  • Take an active role in laboratory safety and managing laboratory spaces/equipment.
  • Interact professionally with all members of the research group.
  • Required Qualifications

    • A PhD in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Physics, Chemistry, or related fields is required.
    • 1 year experiences.

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Candidates should also have a strong background in synthesis, rheology, or fluid mechanics.
