Job Description
Operating Title
Postdoctoral Researcher Chemical Biology and Organic Chemistry
Campus Location
Durham
Department
UNH CEPS Chemistry
Summary of Position
The postdoctoral researcher will be responsible for the synthesis, purification and characterization of novel organic compounds that facilitate fluorescence imaging of cellular membranes. The researcher is also expected to perform cell culture and develop assays to test the prepared compounds in live and fixed cells using confocal and super-resolution imaging. A successful applicant will demonstrate a strong interest in the mentorship of graduate and undergraduate students with limited research experience in the laboratory.
Additional Job Information
Research in the White-Mathieu group is focused on the design of chemical and fluorescent probes to visualize biological events in cells. Active research projects include the development of new classes of fluorescent molecules, responsive probes to visualize changes in membrane structure, and super-resolution imaging strategies for membrane characterization. Students and researchers in the laboratory are trained in organic synthesis and chemical biology.
