The Assistant Professor of Research is a12-month, non-tenured track position in the LSU Social Research & Evaluation Center who will conduct project design, implementation, and evaluation in the areas of PK-20 education, public health and welllness, community work, and public safety . The Assistant Professor of Research will also serve as PI/CO-PI for SREC projects and grants, as well as other interdepartmental projects that can be used as cost-share for the research center. Although the priority for this position is development of external funds and conducting the related research activities, publication of results is highly desirable. Knowledge dissemination through other means is also acceptable.
50% Research project management
a) As PI/CO-PI on funded grants, the Assistant Professor of Research is expected to perform all duties described these projects, including but not limited to preparing progress and final reports, conducting literature reviews, collecting and analyzing data, attending grant related meetings, preparing publications, reports and presentations to enhance SREC's local and national recognition.
b) When required by the grant, the Assistant Professor of Research is expected to supervise and mentor other members of the grant team, including other SREC staff as well as graduate students.
30% External project development
a) Prepare materials & proposals for submission to granting agencies and foundations for external funding to advance the SREC capacity and levels of impact within the University and the Louisiana community at large,
b) Build strategic partnerships with local, regional, and national partners with a focus on PK-20 education, public health and wellness, community work, and public safety.
20% Research dissemination
a) Disseminate knowledge through reports, articles, white papers and other publications and presentations local, state and national level
b) Assist the College of Human Sciences & Education academic/professional staff build capacity to develop grants and evaluation designs with a focus on equity, diversity, inclusion, social justice.
c) Prepare lectures/presentations to integrate SREC's research findings in existing LSU and other partnership collaborations.
Minimum Qualifications: PhD with four or more years of postdoctoral research experience in a university setting.
Specific Experience: Evidence of substantial experience in program evaluation. Strong academic and research credentials directly related to qualitative, quantitative, or mixed methods for carrying out social sciences program evaluations.
Preferred Qualifications: PhD in Program Evaluation/Evaluation Research or other relevant fields with six or more years of postdoctoral research experience in a university setting. Preferred candidates will have a commitment to demonstrated excellence in research, evaluation, grant writing, and scholarship. Ideally, candidates should have demonstrated capability to seek federal/state grants and contracts or relevant experience working on funded projects. We are seeking candidates whose research agendas will have clear connections to equity, diversity, inclusion, social justice, or cultural responsiveness, though other foci will be considered. Potential for collaboration with departmental colleagues who specialize in quantitative methodologies, assessment, or measurement is also desirable.
