Med-Medicine - Pennsylvania-Pittsburgh - (21001183)

A Postdoctoral Research Associate position is available in the Departments of Medicine and Bioengineering at University of Pittsburgh, one of the nation's top ranked schools in biomedical research. We look for innovative and highly motivated individuals to work on various projects that aim to personalize our ability to predict cancer risk in patients with pre-cancerous lesions. We develop advanced microscopy techniques (super-resolution microscopy, light-sheet microscopy, optical coherence microscopy and quantitative phase imaging) in conjunction with image processing methods and bioinformatics tools. We optimize these state-of-the-art tools to analyze patient-derived samples such as tissue biopsies, sputum, blood and organoid to identify personalized solutions to ultimately improve patient care. For more information, you can visit our website: https://yangliulab.github.io/ .

We are looking for candidates with solid chemistry and molecular biology skills who also are capable of handling customized advanced microscopy systems. The candidate must be self-motivated with a strong passion for research. The candidate will work in a multidisciplinary team that encompasses expertise in bioengineering, electrical engineering, cancer biology, pathology, and oncology at University of Pittsburgh, University of Pittsburgh Medical Center (UPMC) and other top medical centers around the country.

The candidate must have a Ph.D. in biomedical engineering, chemistry, biophysics, molecular biology or biotechnology. We expect the candidate to master key biochemistry and biology skill sets, such as fluorescence imaging, fluorescence in situ hybridization, 3D cell culture, molecular cloning, genomic techniques, and other common molecular techniques. In addition, the candidate must have the ability to quantitatively analyze the imaging data. Significant experience in super-resolution microscopy, chromatin biology, epigenetics and cancer biomarker are highly desirable.

We offer excellent salary and benefits. Outstanding individuals with substantial relevant experience will be considered for senior level positions or have the opportunity to advance to research faculty positions in the future. For interested candidates, please send your CV to Prof. Yang Liu by email (liuy@pitt.edu).
