Postdoctoral Associate

Job Description

POSTDOCTORAL ASSOCIATE, Plasma Science and Fusion Center (PSFC), to work in the area of high energy density physics (HEDP) experiments, including inertial confinement fusion and nuclear astrophysics research.  Will split time between developing neutron diagnostics for inertial fusion experiments and undertaking nuclear astrophysics-relevant experiments on the HEDP platform at the OMEGA and NIF lasers. Research findings are expected to be reported in scientific publications and conference presentations.  

Job Requirements:

REQUIRED:  Ph.D. in plasma physics, nuclear physics, or closely related science and engineering discipline; proficiency programming for scientific analysis; and the ability to communicate effectively and work in a dynamic and diverse team environment with MIT staff and students and collaborators from other universities and partner laboratories.  PREFERRED:  experience working with inertial confinement fusion, high energy density science or nuclear physics experiments, diagnostics, and/or modeling. Job #24148

The position will be located on the MIT campus in Cambridge, MA, with regular travel to facilities in Rochester, NY, and the Bay Area, CA.
