Postdoctoral Associate

Job Description

POSTDOCTORAL ASSOCIATE, MIT Energy Initiative (MITEI), to assume a position in techno-economic analysis (TEA), life cycle analysis (LCA), and nonlinear optimization of carbon capture units.  Will work with Professor Sungho Shin and Dr. Guiyan Zang and have the opportunity to interact and work closely with researchers at MIT Energy Initiative’s Future Energy Systems Center. The position will involve regularly presenting research results in meetings and workshops, preparing quarterly progress reports, and publishing papers at international conferences and in peer-reviewed journals.  

Job Requirements:

REQUIRED:  Ph.D. in chemical engineering, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, or a subject pertinent to the research area; excellent communication skills; ability to produce with minimal supervision, prioritize work, and meet deadlines; and fluency in spoken and written English.  PREFERRED: expertise and a relevant track record in optimization, process systems engineering, techno-economic assessment (cash flow analysis) and life cycle assessment (GREET or other LCA software); experience using commercial process modeling software (e.g., Aspen Plus), programming languages (e.g., Python, Julia, and MATLAB), and optimization packages (e.g., JuMP and Pyomo).  Job #24093

This is a one-year position with the possibility of renewal depending on the progress achieved and continued funding.
