Description & Details:

The Upper Great Plains Transportation Institute (UGPTI) at NDSU is seeking candidates for Post Doc Rural Road Safety position. The primary

objectives of this position are: (1) utilize quantitative and qualitative software and skills to investigate research questions and provide road

safety related visualizations to meet project goals. (2) define and carry out qualitative and quantitative research project work, including

hypothesis development, scientific method selection, technical writing, and professional presentations; mixing methods as appropriate. (3) use

exceptional communication skills to work closely with partner agencies and community stakeholders on road safety and countermeasures in

traffic injury prevention. The UGPTI offers a great environment for professional growth and inspiration in our interdisciplinary research and

outreach program. The individual will have the opportunity to utilize his/her strengths in contributing to a growing research program, data

synthesis and knowledge building. Exceptional interpersonal, communication and organizational skills are essential. This position is full-time

benefited.

Work Schedule: TBD

Advertised Salary: $50,000 +/DOE

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Ph.D. in a transportation or a related field.
  • Experience managing and transforming large databases for research investigations
  • Demonstrated research experience with qualitative and quantitative software such a SPSS, SAS, and NVivo.
  • ESRI/GIS application experience
  • Experience with mixing quantitative and qualitative research methods
  • Demonstrated research writing and presentation skills
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment
  • Experience managing workload priorities among multiple projects

Preferred Qualifications:

  • ESRI dashboard creation, publication, and/or maintenance
  • Experience working with AI/AN cultures and communities
  • Experience in research proposal development
  • Experience reviewing and interpreting medical files related to traffic injuries
