The Texas A&M University Institute for Early Childhood Development & Education seeks to use leading, cutting-edge research to transform the lives of all young children and the adults who interact with them, including families, educators, clinicians, and health providers. We will solve complex issues in early childhood from various perspectives by generating rigorous research that informs practice and policy, mentoring the next generation of early childhood scholars and practitioners , and leading outreach initiatives for early childhood practitioners across Texas and beyond.

What we want

A Postdoctoral Research Associate to help manage a new grant-funded research project. Additionally, the Postdoctoral Research Associate will help maintain compliance and meet research grant deliverable requirements. The Postdoctoral Research Associate will work collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary research team with expertise in education, special education, psychology, and speech-language pathology. The specific goals of the project are to evaluate the reliability and validity of protocols for identifying learning disabilities and developmental language disorder in bilingual children.

Qualifications

Required Education and Experience:

• Appropriate PhD in Education, Psychology, Speech-Language pathology, or a related field.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Ability to contribute to research activities by collecting and analyzing data
• Ability to work collaboratively with others
• Excellent spoken and written communication skills
• Ability to contribute to publication/dissemination of project results

Preferred Qualifications:

• Proficiency in Spanish and English
• Experience conducting research in applied (school-based) settings.
• Experience writing grants or working on grant-funded research projects.
• Experience mentoring students (graduate or undergraduate)
• Experience with quantitative data analysis methods.
• Experience with statistical software (e.g. R, SPSS, Mplus, etc.)
• Experience with data management software (e.g., REDCap)

Essential Duties/Tasks

Data Analysis, Manuscript Preparation and Publication

Selects and applies standard techniques of routine research and keeps detailed records of data. Uses computers and laboratory or technical equipment to perform data analysis, statistical analysis, and technical evaluation of research experiments and results.

Contribute to written manuscripts to disseminate results of the research project.

Assist with research grant deliverable requirements.

Project Management:

Recruit various schools and participants for the research project.

Develops data management protocols.

Evaluates and summarizes results.

Assists with reports, invoices, and cataloging records .

Mentoring

Providing mentoring to undergraduate and graduate research assistants.

Assists and trains undergraduate and/or graduate students and other laboratory, technical or field staff involved in research.

Data Presentation

Prepares figures to present research data at conferences.
