POSITION TITLE: Research Assistant I

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Constantinides Lab studies how microbes influence the development and function of immune cells and how these cells regulate the microbiota and respond to pathogens. We're looking for an intelligent, curious, and motivated research assistant to join our highly collaborative team for 2 or more years. This individual will assist other lab members with their experiments and conduct experiments independently, once proficient. They will also participate in maintaining the lab's mouse strains, inventory, and organization. RESPONSIBLITIES AND DUTIES:

  • Conduct in vivo experiments by treating mice, isolating immune cells from tissues, and profiling samples by flow cytometry.
  • In vitro culture of mammalian cells and/or microbes (bacteria and fungi).
  • Maintain shared mouse strains by setting up breeder cages, weaning progeny, and genotyping.
  • Maintain the lab's inventory and reorder supplies when necessary.
  • Participate in meetings and lab organization.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Requires a bachelor's degree in a biological sciences field.
  • At least 1 year of experience in a research laboratory.
  • Prior experience handling rodents is preferred.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • This position entails working in laboratory and vivarium environment and requires the ability to handle mice.
  • Ability to lift 25 lbs. up to chest-height.

COMPENSATION:

The expected hiring range for this position is $20.07 to $25.06 per hour, commensurate with experience. Consideration will be given to experience that exceeds the listed requirements.
