The Senior Business and Science Analyst is responsible for collecting data from a variety of internal and external sources and databases, developing reports, and analyzing market and technology trends to impact strategic decision prioritization, performance optimization, and goal setting. The individual collects input and insights from external partners and data sources, and collaborates with cross functional teams to design, develop, maintain, and manage market, technology and CRM databases. Analyzes life sciences business and technology / science trends, conducts in-depth research needs assessments and preliminary analyses to inform university partnering strategy. The individual is responsible for building data models to organize important data for monitoring, managing, and communicating data.
This person supports the Office of Industry and Economic Partnerships’ (OIEP) industry, venture capital and regional economic development activities and initiatives in the development of business intelligence and insights. Activities will include creating data dashboards for key stakeholders, aggregating data from multiple sources, and developing recommendations. The selected individual will be detail-oriented and can manage timelines and expectations in a fast-paced, cross-collaborative environment. They will also have excellent project management and cross-functional coordination skills and the ability to utilize the Microsoft Office suite while also exhibiting the behaviors associated with OIEP’s core competencies: Leadership, Continuous Improvement, Teamwork and Collaboration, and Communication/Interpersonal Effectiveness. A Master’s degree in the Life Sciences, is required with PhD preferred; 3-5 years’ experience in the Life Sciences sector; demonstrated experience with data warehouse mining/reporting and data manipulation tools; demonstrated ability to combine disparate sources of information and create compelling narratives that inform and improve decision-making. Manager of OIEP Business Intelligence and OIEP Business Development Manager are career pathways.
Master’s degree in the Life Sciences, PhD preferred; 3-5 years’ experience in the Life Sciences sector; demonstrated experience with data warehouse mining/reporting and data manipulation tools; demonstrated ability to combine disparate sources of information and create compelling narratives that inform and improve decision-making; excellent ability to synthesize large amounts of information and logically structure PowerPoint presentations; strong experience with Excel including advanced Excel features and functionality; experience with, social, search, email, and mobile analytics; strong experience with business intelligence visualization tools (e.g. Power BI).
