We are seeking a highly motivated and detail oriented postdoctoral fellow with a track record in research applying computational modeling methods to scientific problems. The central goal of the NIH-funded project (joint with BUSM, Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, and Franklin & Marshall College) is to characterize changes in the prefrontal cortex and visual cortex during normal aging in the rhesus monkeys, to gain insight into mechanisms underlying age-related cognitive decline. The successful candidate will build computational models of cortical networks, extending our recent models and constrained by our empirical studies, including new data in collaboration with GE Healthcare. The appointment as a Boston University School of Medicine research fellow will be for at least 1 year with possibility for extension based on performance.
- Develop and test computational models of individual neurons
- Develop and test computational model of cortical networks
- Discuss empirical constraints of models with lab members
- Perform careful reading of neuroscience and related computational modeling literature
- Preparation of manuscripts and scientific presentations
