Working with colleagues from across the University and Students’ Union, we will look to you to provide academic leadership in a whole variety of areas. Areas like personal tutoring/academic advising and related academic support, student life and student well-being and personal growth. You will also be responsible for implementing the Student Code of Conduct and associated policies as part of an inclusive and careers-led learning experience. What’s more, as a member of University Management Board reporting directly to the Pro-Vice Chancellor (Education & Experience) you will get to advocate for the advancement of a student-centred learning environment. And, when it comes to responding to the informational and personal concerns of students, overseeing the protection of student rights or promoting and upholding the shared values and ideals of the University community, again, we will count on you.
As well as a PhD or equivalent professional recognition, you will need a track record in leading and managing positive organisational change in a complex institution (e.g., as Head of Department, Associate Dean/Director, Dean, Pro-Vice Chancellor). Experience of proactively soliciting and positively addressing student issues is important too, as is evidence of understanding and providing solutions to students complex concerns Leading/coordinating or substantially contributing to student engagement activities, communications and/or events comes naturally to you too, as does working collaboratively towards successful outcomes with professional colleagues, ideally in health and wellbeing, disability and dyslexia and in crisis/incident response situations. A firm believer in successful management by influence, you handle high-level, sensitive, and confidential matters and information discreetly, have experience of dealing with cross-cultural issues and, crucially, have a positive attitude to change.
