A research position is available at NUS Mechanical Engineering, under the supervision of Dr. LIM Kian Meng. The project aims to develop an advanced computational tool for underwater acoustics. The scope of research includes mathematical modelling and simulation of acoustic wave propagation in water. The candidate is expected to use of a commercial finite element software and an existing in-house code (Python code) to study the scattering of acoustic waves from targets of different shapes and sizes. Previous hands-on experience in acoustics simulations, partial differential equations (boundary element method, multipole expansion), and scientific programming are preferred. Qualifications The successful candidate should have a PhD degree (or expect the degree within 6 months) in a related field of Engineering or Science, with demonstrated capabilities listed below: -
- • Acoustics modelling and simulations.
- • Numerical methods for partial differential equations.
- • Scientific programming (Python, C/C++, or equivalent).
