JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
The College of Earth and Mineral Sciences of The Pennsylvania State University invites applications for a Postdoctoral Scholar position to begin on or after November 1, 2020. A successful candidate should have a strong background in developing thermodynamic models of metallic alloys and molten solutions. The candidate should possess demonstrated abilities to work independently, publish and organize research projects. The candidate is expected to contribute in the ongoing projects on computational materials science and software development using Github and Python. The experience in developing thermodynamic models of solid and liquid phases is required. The position is based in the Department of Materials Science and Engineering, working under the supervision of Professor Zi-Kui Liu, and there will be opportunities to collaborate and interact with a broad group of faculty and students.
It is expected that applicants will have completed a Ph.D. in Materials Science and Engineering or a related field by the start of the position. Funding is available for one year from date of hire with possibility for renewal. Pursuant to the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act and the Pennsylvania Act of 1988, Penn State publishes a combined Annual Security and Annual Fire Safety Report (ASR). The ASR includes crime statistics and institutional policies concerning campus security, such as those concerning alcohol and drug use, crime prevention, the reporting of crimes, sexual assault, and other matters.
