Position Title: Postdoctoral Associate
Scripps Research is seeking a Postdoctoral Associate to support the Molecular Medicine Department. We are looking for a highly motivated individual with strong background and technical expertise in cell and molecular biology and bioinformatics for our program on transcription factors in joint biology and arthritis pathogenesis. In this newly funded program we are using Omics technologies (RNA-seq, single cell-RNA-seq, ChIP-seq and epigenetic analyses) to identify regulatory gene networks and test their role using in vitro and in vivo models in mutant mouse strains. Genes that are identified to be essential regulators of homeostatic processes or to promote arthritis pathogenesis are used in drug screening assays. The laboratory has preclinical models for proof of concept validation of drug targets and drug candidates.
- PhD in Biology, Bioinformatics, Genetics, Biostatistics, or related field with 0-2 years of relevant experience; or MSc in Bioinformatics, Biostatistics, Epidemiology or related field and 2+ years of relevant experience.
- Experience applying bioinformatics tools to next generation sequencing data.
- ChIP-Seq, RNA-Seq, single cell RNAseq.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
This position works in a laboratory or vivarium environment. Further details of the physical requirements of established essential functions for this position will be addressed/discussed during the interview process.
Must possess a doctoral degree. A pending doctoral degree may be considered with approval of the Principal Investigator.
