Position Highlights
A postdoctoral research associate position is available in the research lab of Dr. Jeong-Yeol Yoon in the Department of Biomedical Engineering at the University of Arizona. The postdoc will design, build, fabricate, and test the paper microfluidic chips, smartphone-based optical detection system, and application software, that can identify and quantify various targets (toxicants, chemicals, viral/bacterial pathogens, etc., including SARS-CoV-2) from environmental samples (field water, surface swabs, etc.) and human specimens (nasal/buccal swabs, blood, etc.).

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Design, build, fabricate and test the paper microfluidic chips.
  • Design, build, fabricate and test the smartphone-based optical detection system and application software.
  • Conduct assays of various samples.
  • Analyze data, write journal articles and reports.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Ph.D. in bioengineering or environmental engineering, and
  • Minimum of three years of post-doctoral research.

Preferred Qualifications
Experience in biosensor design, immunoassay, public health surveillance, and environmental monitoring.
