General Description

A 3-4 year postdoctoral position is available in my laboratory to investigate how mitochondria regulate synaptic function and plasticity.

The prospective collaborator will use live fluorescence microscopy (Airyscan), electrophysiology, and optogenetic tools to measure and modulate mitochondrial function during synaptic activation in drosophila.

Aside from this exciting project, my lab is committed to the career development of all team members, from undergraduate to graduate students and postdoctoral fellows. Set in the heart of New York City, CUNY offers a vibrant research environment and career support through state of the art facilities and access to collaborators in the metropolitan area.

I welcome email applications from all qualified individuals holding a PhD degree and with experience in cell biology/biochemistry, as well as having the ability to work both independently and in group. Please include a CV, a brief statement of research trajectory and goals, and 3 contacts for reference.

Please visit www.peixotolab.org to see our latest publications and for further inquiries.

Review of applications will close on or before October 1st 2020.

Qualifications

  • highly motivated individual with a PhD in Cell Biology/Physiology or related field.
  • experience with confocal fluorescence microscopy, patch-clamp electrophysiology, subcellular fractionations, and familiarity with metabolic measurements in intact cells and subcellular extracts are a plus.
  • we encourage applicants from all backgrounds to join our proud and diverse community.
