General Description

A 3-4 year postdoctoral position is available in my laboratory to investigate how mitochondria regulate synaptic function and plasticity.

The prospective collaborator will use live fluorescence microscopy (Airyscan), electrophysiology, and optogenetic tools to measure and modulate mitochondrial function during synaptic activation in drosophila.

Aside from this exciting project, my lab is committed to the career development of all team members, from undergraduate to graduate students and postdoctoral fellows. Set in the heart of New York City, CUNY offers a vibrant research environment and career support through state of the art facilities and access to collaborators in the metropolitan area.

Other Duties

  • training and supervising undergraduate and graduate students
  • helping in the maintenance of instrumentation and laboratories belonging to the group (managing order in the lab, cleanliness of working spaces, safety issues assisted by students)
  • submit monthly reports, present work in group meetings, collaborate in manuscript and grant proposal preparations


  • highly motivated individual with a PhD in Cell Biology/Physiology or related field.
  • experience with confocal fluorescence microscopy, patch-clamp electrophysiology, subcellular fractionations, and familiarity with metabolic measurements in intact cells and subcellular extracts are a plus.
