Brief Summary of Job Duties

The Department of Computer Science at Morgan State University (MSU) invites applications for one tenure-track Assistant/Associate Professor position beginning Fall 2020 Semester in the following areas: cybersecurity, data science cryptography, cloud computing, network security, machine learning and artificial intelligence. The successful candidate will be expected to teach programs related to the above areas and have a research agenda including plans to secure outside funding.

The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching undergraduate and graduate courses, developing a focused area of research in cybersecurity, supervising undergraduate and graduate students, and providing service to the University, School, Department, the profession, and the community. We seek applicants who will contribute to the research, teaching and service missions of the University. We are particularly interested in applicants with a demonstrated interest in mentoring students form traditionally underrepresented groups.

Requested Minimum Qualifications

Successful candidate will have the following minimum qualifications:

  • A Doctoral Degree in Cybersecurity, Cyber Operations, Computer/Network Security, Computer Science, Data Science, Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence or a closely related area. PhD candidates who are expected to complete the doctoral degree before the time of employment will be considered.

  • Demonstrated potential for successful teaching at both undergraduate and graduate levels, and a strong commitment to teaching, interdisciplinary research and cultural diversity.

  • Demonstrated potential for high scholarly impact through research and publications.

  • Demonstrated oral proficiency in the English language, as mandated by state law.

Other Preferences for Consideration

The candidate should have a demonstrated record of quality research and the potential for excellence in teaching.

Prior work experiences that use related skills are desirable, though not necessary.
