Job Summary
 
The School of Mathematics and Natural Sciences seeks a joint postdoctoral associate in the groups of Dr. Karl Wallace and Dr. Wujian Miao to develop optical, electrochemical and electrogenerated chemiluminescence (ECL) films for detection and quantification of specific chemical warfare agents and explosives. 

Primary Duties and Responsibilities  
1. Perform scientific research in laboratory. The candidate is expected to synthesize organic compounds, polymeric materials, carry out spectroscopic, and electrochemical measurements.

2. The candidate is expected to work closely with the PLS and help manage graduate students and undergraduate students in the group and with the general management of the labs.

3. Publish in peer-reviewed scientific journals.

 

 

Minimum Qualifications 
The successful candidates will have completed their Ph.D. in chemistry or related fields.
 
 
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Applicants are expected to have a strong academic and research background in molecular recognition and sensor design.
 
 
Preferred Qualifications  
 The ideal candidate should be highly motivated and have competent English communication skills. Candidates with a strong background in analytical techniques such as fluorescence spectroscopy, electrochemical and ECL techniques are encouraged to apply.
