Professional Researcher/Program Manager – Wraparound Program

The Department of Surgery at Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital (ZSFGH) at the University of California San Francisco is seeking to fill a position as the Co-Lead Researcher and Program Manager of the Wraparound Project. We seek a highly skilled and motivated individual with post-doctoral training in public health or qualitative research, along with expertise in community-based academic research and program development. This position will collaborate with the medical staff to support the Violence Prevention Professions (VPPs) and oversee the operations, personnel, partnerships, and overall academic program activities of the ZSFGH Hospital-Based Violence Intervention Program (HVIP).

The Wraparound Project is a hospital based violence intervention program. Violence Prevention Professionals provide psychosocial support to victims of community violence that are seen at ZSFGH, a Level I Trauma Center. The Violence Prevention Professionals provide long term case management to address the social determinants of health. This position supports the efforts of the Violence Prevention Professionals and collaborates with physician staff. This position requires a strong background in academic research, program management, and leadership, as well as a passion for improving the lives of communities affected by violence.
The Co-Lead Researcher and Program Manager will be responsible for the following:

Academic Research:

Perform independent research on community health and qualitative research focused on violence prevention including applying for grants, publishing and distributing relevant publications.
Collaborate with VPPs and medical staff to develop and lead research efforts, including study design, data collection, analysis, and dissemination of findings.
Collaborate with internal and external researchers on grant and manuscript writing, ensuring high-quality outputs.
Engage in academic and professional conferences, presenting research findings, and actively participating in relevant forums.
Collaborate with the research team to identify funding opportunities for research and program evaluation efforts.
Collaborate with stakeholders to identify and address challenges and lead quality improvement initiatives.
Mentor and provide guidance to learners, including students, fellows, and other trainees, fostering their professional growth and development.

Program Management and Development:

Collaborate with VPPs and medical staff to provide overall strategic direction and leadership for the HVIP, ensuring the effective implementation of programmatic initiatives.
Supervise a diverse team of Violence Prevention Professionals and other staff members, providing guidance, support, and supervision.
Oversee program administration, including budgeting, reporting, and compliance with regulatory requirements.
Initiative, develop, maintain, and manage strong relationships with partner organizations, including community-based agencies, government entities, and healthcare providers.
Collaborate with VPPs to actualize development efforts, identifying new opportunities for expansion and enhancement of HVIP services.
Develop and implement fundraising strategies to secure funding from various sources, including grant proposals, partnerships, and donor cultivation.
Engage with national HVIP leadership to stay informed of best practices, contribute to program development initiatives, and share knowledge with the team.

Applicants must have a PhD (or equivalent degree) by the time of hire. Applicants' materials must list current and/or pending qualifications upon submission. Applicants should have a strong background in academic research, preferably in the field of violence prevention, and demonstrated expertise in community-based research, program development, and program evaluation. Applicants should also have excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to develop and deliver presentations, reports, and manuscripts. A proven track record in successful fundraising and grant writing is preferred. Applicants with strong leadership and interpersonal skills, experience with team-building and personnel management, familiarity with trauma informed care, and commitment to social justice and equity are strongly encouraged to apply.

The incumbent will supervise two or more employees and will be responsible for full oversight for staffing, performance management, and daily operations.
