Tougaloo College is an independent, residential, coeducational, historically black institution, offering undergraduate education in twenty-nine majors in the areas of Education, the Humanities, the Natural Sciences, and the Social Sciences, as well as graduate degrees in education, a Master of Arts in Teaching and a Master of Arts in Child Development. Position Summary: The Provost/Vice President for Academic Affairs is the Chief Academic Officer for the College who reports directly to the President and acts on behalf of the president in her absence. The College is seeking an innovative and progressive leader with a proven record of high performance and achievement who has the vision, maturity, and management qualities to build on the College’s reputation and advance it to an even higher level of academic excellence and student success.
The Provost/Vice President for Academic Affairs provides primary guidance and direction for the College in all academic areas, overseeing the College’s academic mission and the development, oversight, and ongoing review of academic policies. Operating in a shared governance environment, the Provost is charged with the development of new academic programs as well as the continual improvement of existing academic programs.
Experience/Qualifications: The Provost/Vice President for Academic Affairs must have an earned doctorate from a fully accredited college or university and a demonstrated record of increasingly responsible experience in administrative academic leadership in higher education. The candidate also must have a distinguished record of teaching, scholarship, service, and student engagement.
