Assistant Professor of Legal Studies, Department of Politics, Law, and Society 

At East Central University in Ada, Oklahoma, we commit to educating and empowering students to understand and transform our world. ECU is a state regional university offering thirty-three undergraduate baccalaureate degree programs in arts, business, education, mathematics, sciences, nursing, and the social sciences; and six master's degrees in accounting, education, human resources, psychology, management, and water resources. ECU's 4,200 (average) students come from 35 countries and 22 different states. About 65% of the 147 full-time faculty hold doctorates.

The Politics, Law, and Society Department in the College of Liberal Arts and Social at East Central University invites applications for an Assistant Professor to begin in August 2020.

The Department of Politics, Law, and Society is home to undergraduate majors in Legal Studies and Political Science and a master’s degree in Water Resource Policy and Management. We contribute to our growing interdisciplinary Native American Studies program with classes such as Tribal Politics, Native American Law, and Native American Water Rights. The successful candidate will teach freshman-level American Government as well as technical Legal Studies classes and classes on Native American topics. Additionally, we seek an engaging scholar who will maintain a research agenda, work well with students in an extracurricular setting, and collaborate with colleagues. The College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences is committed to equity, diversity and inclusiveness, engaging students in active learning, and providing online instruction for adult learners. Additional duties may be required as needed.

Juris Doctorate. Experience in Native American Law preferred. Minimum three years’ experience in the practice of law preferred.
