A Postdoctoral position is immediately available in the Trivedi lab to lead the project identifying roles of novel chromatin and epigenetic modifications during cardiovascular diseases. The research goal of the Trivedi lab is to identify cellular processes and regulatory mechanisms involved in congenital and adult cardiovascular diseases. Although transcription factors involved in cardiovascular development have been described, the closely associated chromatin modifiers of this process remain largely unknown. Histone deacetylases (Hdacs) modify chromatin structure to regulate gene expression in the heart and vasculature. Using knockout and transgenic murine models, we have characterized chromatin modifying enzymes and signaling pathways critical for lymphatic vascular disease (Journal of Clinical Investigation, 2017 Oct 16. PMID: 29035278), congenital heart defects (JBC 2015 Nov 06; 290(45):27067-89), cardiac progenitor cell differentiation (Human Molecular Genetics. 2014 Jul 15;23(14):3801-9), and craniofacial defects (Dev Dyn. 2017 Dec;246(12):1015-1026).
Candidates with a PhD in the area of Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Stem Cell Biology, Translational science, Neuroscience, Cancer Biology, or Developmental Biology are encouraged to apply. We seek candidates who are highly motivated, technically accomplished, and work independently. Our lab is multicultural and supports personal development and work-life balance.
