Job Summary

Instruct five courses per long terms as requested and teach in mini/summer/flex terms as needed. In addition to teaching responsibilities, the employee will actively participate in the Psychology Department, including assisting with the maintenance and development of curriculum.

Required Qualifications

In accordance with SACSCOC accreditation requirements, Master’s degree in Psychology, or a Master’s degree plus 18 graduate semester hours in Psychology are required

Preferred Qualifications

PhD in Psychology is preferred

18+ graduate hours in an additional teaching field desired; Sociology preferred

College/dual credit teaching experience

Knowledge of Canvas and other instructional technology

Essential Functions

Instruct students in assigned face-to-face and on-line courses in accordance with the course syllabus and college policy. Courses include Introduction to Psychology; Human Sexuality; Child Psychology; and Life-Span Growth and Development

Fulfill faculty roles and responsibilities as outlined in Midland College Policy 02:01:01

Plan and organize lectures, utilize research and reference materials

Develop syllabi and other learning aids

Make continuous efforts to improve the quality of instruction by reviewing and utilizing appropriate methodologies, techniques, technologies, and delivery methods

Mentor new full time and part time faculty

Provide access to students by observing posted office hours, and utilizing electronic communication and other appropriate methods

Actively participate in the development and administration and reporting of core assessment

Submit required reports and forms

Serve on departmental, division and college-wide committees, as assigned

Successfully complete Quality Matters certification during first year of employment

Maintain professional relationships with students, colleagues and the community

Participate in student recruitment and advising

Participate in graduation and other required official College functions

Perform other related tasks as assigned by the Department Chair, Dean and/or Executive Vice President

Other duties as assigned

Ability to stand or sit for long periods of time

Ability to lift or move up to 20 pounds

Repetitive use of a keyboard at a workstation

Min Salary 46,727 per year
Max Salary 58,552 per year
Pay Statement Salary is commensurate with educational qualifications and experience.
