<p><b>Join the HJF Team!</b></p><div><p>The Center for the Study of Traumatic Stress at the Department of Psychiatry, Uniformed Services University (USU), is seeking a <strong>Postdoctoral Fellow</strong>. HJF provides scientific, technical and programmatic support services to USU in Bethesda, Maryland. The laboratory is interested in using and developing zebrafish behavioral screening assays to investigate candidate therapeutic agents for the treatment of PTSD. The Postdoctoral Fellow will be responsible for initiating and conducting experiments with zebrafish in collaboration with a multidisciplinary project team. <strong>This position requires US Citizenship</strong>.</p><p>The initial appointment for this position is for one year, with the possibility of renewal for a second year.</p><p>Responsibilities:</p><ol><li>Assists in designing, developing, executing, and implementing scientific research and/or development.</li><li>Investigates the feasibility of applying a wide variety of scientific principles and theories to potential inventions and products.</li><li>Performs specialized laboratory research utilizing experimental protocols which will involve specialized procedures such as exposure of zebrafish larvae to a stimulus, measurement of response using behavioral recording equipment and software, testing of medicinal compounds for ability to modify response to stimuli..</li><li>Collects and handles samples and keeps detailed records of experiments.</li><li>Participates in planning and conducting analyses of data from zebrafish experiments.</li><li>Assists with the preparation of data for presentations at scientific meetings and for publication in journals.</li><li value="7">Assists with training laboratory staff as needed.</li><li value="8">Maintains cleanliness of laboratory areas.</li><li value="9">Performs other duties as assigned.</li></ol><p><u>Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:</u> Knowledge of appropriate scientific area (pharmacology, neuroscience, physiology, molecular biology, etc.); ability to analyze and interpret data.
